This is a stunning acrylic painting of a beautiful person in a purple shirt behind a red background made by Ingeborg Glosser.

About the artist: Ingeborg Glosser was born in Bochum, Germany on April 8, 1924 a few years before Adolf Hitler came to power. Inge’s father, Heinrich Schöttler, had met Inge’s mother, Bertha Lyon, an actress, in 1918. [... In 1970 Marvin and Inge spent a week’s vacation in the Berkshires. During the week, Inge took advantage of an art class being offered by the resort. Inspired by the teacher, Inge decided to take up painting in her free time. She even enrolled in evening classes at the Art Students League of New York. Haunted by her past, she began to explore in her paintings the lingering anxieties and nightmares of her childhood and young adulthood. She favored a German neo-Expressionist style. Her art gained some attention and she had several gallery shows where several of her oil paintings were sold. Her true métier however appeared to be in the medium of water colors. For the last half of her life she produced these serial works in stunning succession. Unfortunately, limited vision because of macular degeneration restricted her artistic output before she died. She died at home on March 13, 2018. She was buried in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Hastings, NY.]

Vintage/Antique Items:
Please note that most vintage/antique items may have minor wear due to their age and being loved, which we believe only adds to the charm and patina of these pieces. Because the items sold in our shop are vintage or antique, there are often small condition issues, which we do our best to accurately disclose and photograph in the listings.

While we try very hard to describe our items accurately, it is possible that the eye of a true collector might see something that we do not.
