In "The Thief," a rich man loses an expensive coin at a dinner party and when one of the guests refuses to empty his pockets for examination, he becomes the prime suspect. When it is later found, the rich man goes to his house to apologize and realizes that the man would not agree to examination because he was poor and had stolen dinner rolls and could not face the embarrassment of their discovery...
